Massage therapy at HealThySelf Whole Body Wellness is professional, therapeutic bodywork that listens first, then responds to what your body actually needs.
I became a massage therapist because I wanted to help people, and this work does that in the most immediate way I know. I've always had an innate sense of touch, an instinct for where the body is holding and what it needs, and massage therapy turned out to be the perfect place to put that to use. There's something deeply fulfilling about helping people feel better in their bodies and understand why.
Your body doesn't hold tension in isolation. That knot in your neck might trace back to how you're sleeping. That tightness in your hips might be stress you're carrying somewhere else entirely. I treat you as one complete system, not a list of symptoms, so the work we do together actually gets to the root of what's going on.
Every session starts with a conversation, and you're in control of it throughout. What you tell me shapes the hour, not a standard script.
Deep tissue work targets the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue, the places where chronic tension and old patterns of holding tend to settle in. Using slower strokes and more focused pressure, this approach helps release adhesions and tightness that lighter touch can't always reach. It's a good fit if you're dealing with ongoing stiffness, postural tension, or pain that hasn't responded to rest alone. Pressure is always something we calibrate together, this is firm work, not forceful work.
Medical massage is targeted, condition-specific work, focused on a particular injury, diagnosis, or pattern of pain rather than overall relaxation. Sessions draw on techniques like neuromuscular therapy, myofascial release, and active isolated stretching to address the underlying cause of what you're dealing with, whether that's an old injury, a repetitive strain, or pain that's been pointing to something specific. Because this work is treatment-oriented, it often follows a plan we build together over a series of sessions, and can complement care you're already receiving from a physician or other provider.
Sometimes what your body needs most isn't deep intervention, it's the chance to fully slow down. Swedish massage uses long, flowing strokes and a calmer pace to ease general tension, lower stress, and support better sleep and overall nervous system regulation. It's a gentler entry point if you're new to bodywork, or simply the kind of session you need when life has been a lot lately.
SPECIALIZED CARE FOR YOU AND YOUR BABY
Your body changes constantly through pregnancy and in the months after, and the support it needs changes right along with it. Prenatal massage is adapted to each trimester, with positioning and pressure chosen for your safety and comfort, to ease common discomforts like low back pain, hip and pelvic tension, swelling, and the overall physical strain of carrying a pregnancy.
Postpartum sessions support your body's recovery afterward, whatever that looks like for you, while also offering a quiet space to simply be cared for during a season that often asks you to care for everyone else.
Positioning, pressure, and comfort are always things we check in on throughout, this work follows your body's lead, not a fixed protocol.
As a Certified Educator of Infant Massage, I also teach parents and caregivers how to use gentle massage with their baby, to support development, soothe fussiness, ease digestive discomfort, and build connection through touch. I lead the instruction while you do the hands-on work with your baby, building a skill you'll carry with you for years to come. Sessions can be booked in the office or in your home. Contact me for availability and pricing.
Before your appointment, you'll receive an online intake form. It gives me a clear picture of your medical history ahead of time, and gives you space to share what's going on and what's bringing you in, so we're not starting from scratch when you arrive.
We'll start with a conversation about what's going on, what you're hoping for, and anything I should know. Draping is used throughout every session, and you're always welcome to ask for more pressure, less pressure, or a pause, at any point.
First sessions should be scheduled for a minimum of 60 minutes, so there's time for that conversation along with the bodywork itself. Shorter sessions (30 and 45 minutes) are reserved for ongoing, targeted treatment once we've already established a plan together.
